Day One

Gondar – Sankaber camp
We will travel from Gondar and be dropped off for two hours trek up to the camp site. You will enjoy the views over the escarpment and are likely to spot large groups of the Chelada monkey. You will camp at Sankabar which is at 3250m.

Day Two

Sankaber – Geech
Trek from Sankabar camp to Geech camp via Jinibar falls. Geech camp is at 3600m.

Day Three

Based at Geech Camp we will do a day trek to Imet gogo from where there are excellent views of the Simien mountains escarpment.

6-7 h
Day Four

Geech – Chennek
From Geech to Chennek [3630m]. At Chennek there are again excellent views and we should see more Chelada monkeys, Walia ibex and if we are lucky we can see Ethiopian wolf.

Day Five

Chennek – Ambiko
From Chennek camp to ambiko camp [3250m], the base camp for the climb up to Ras Dejen the highest mountains in ethiopia.

Day Six

Ambiko – Ras Dejen – Ambiko
An early pre-dawn start to climb Ras Dejen [4543m]. This is a long day, with around 11 hours of trekking and return to Ambiko.

Day Seven

Ambiko – Sona
Trek from Ambiko to Sona camp. We will start by trekking along the river valley before starting to cross farmland and pass the village of Arkeasiye before reaching Sona community. From Sona we will have fantastic views back on the high peaks and where we were a few days earlier.

Day Eight

Sona – Mekaribiya
Descends into the lowlands as we leave Sona to Mekaribiya camp, which is at 2060m.

Day Nine

Mekaribiya – Mulit
From Mekaribiya camp to Mulit camp, which is at 2150m.

Day Ten

Mulit – Adiarkay – Gondar
Short morning trek to Adiarkay where we will finish our trek and transfer back to Gondar.
